The aerodynamics of geodesic domes allow them to withstand large compressive loads, as the triangular elements that make up the dome can evenly distribute stress and load. Compared to contemporary houses, it is highly resistant to natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes. Its components are also resistant to fire, water and rust. Also, since the dome is easy to assemble, residents can easily migrate without much loss.
- Energy Efficiency
Jeodesic domes consume much less energy than conventional houses. This is because the surface area is minimised compared to the interior spaces of traditional houses. Thus, in cold weather, it retains more heat thanks to its special 5-layer insulation. In hot weather, a chimney effect is created in the dome and warm air is drawn out of the building for optimum ventilation. As the light is refracted and remains inside the dome, these structures utilise solar energy, reducing the need for artificial lighting.
